Biberach extends contract with nectanet
Biberach. The municipality of Biberach has extended its contract with nectanet GmbH, which cooperates with municipalities and companies, by ten years as of November 1. This was decided by a majority of the municipal council. The agreement includes the provision of business development services by nectanet. The discussion about the extension of municipal agreements with nectanet recently caused a stir in various municipalities. The municipality of Berghaupten, for example, did not extend the cooperation. The question was whether the annual four-figure sum was in proportion to the benefit for the municipality. Anja Lienhard (FWB) also raised this question in the Biberach Council. “I can’t quite see the benefits – we have the industry we have,” she argued. Mayor Jonas Breig agreed in terms of fully occupied commercial space, but also referred to the benefits of networking companies and attracting skilled workers. Manuela Schätzle (SPD) asked whether administrative staff had taken part in courses offered by nectanet to date. Treasurer Nicolas Isenmann denied this, but added that the courses offered revolved around topics such as tourism and marketing. Georg Fletschinger (FWB) described the partnership with nectanet as a “sign of loyalty, also with other municipalities”. Hubert Scharffenberg (SPD) recalled that the municipal council had already attended information events in previous years. Sigrid Armbruster (CDU) emphasized: “Ending the cooperation would be saving money in the wrong place.” With Anja Lienhard voting against, the municipal council’s vote in favor was clear.
