Circular economy as a major goal for the region

Offenburg. If the transformation to a circular economy is to succeed, progress must be made on many levels simultaneously. The “Circular Black Forest” project brings together stakeholders from the Black Forest. Today, Wednesday, an event is being held at the Nectanet business development agency in Offenburg. “At the moment, we live in a linear economic system. At the end of resource utilization is the production of unwanted material (waste). This means that not only are valuable resources lost, but a constant supply of raw materials and energy is needed to manufacture new products,” explains Nectanet in a press release. This leads to a shortage of resources, supply bottlenecks, rising prices and the cost of living, as well as environmental damage. A functioning circular economy could help to mitigate these developments. This includes, for example, waste avoidance, which can already be considered in the design of new products and services. Products could be used longer and more intensively. Companies are to be supported in setting up a circular infrastructure, for example secondary raw material storage and return logistics, sensibly accompanied by digital technology. According to the press release, the Circular Black Forest initiative covers the Black Forest region from Karlsruhe to Lörrach and the Swabian Alb. Drees & Sommer reports from the construction industry. Europa-Park will also be on the podium, and J. Schmalz GmbH from Glatten will provide insights into the industrial sector.
